MigMaster 275

ESAB recently introduced a new industrial ready-to-weld MIG package, the Migmaster® 275, designed to provide more power for tough jobs. Rated 275 amps at 40% duty cycle and 200 amps at continuous 100% duty cycle, this machine features DC welding output from 30 to 300 amps with new heavy-plate parameters for 5/8" and above.

Sales manager Andy Schuk calls the new Migmaster 275 “a beefier machine for less money that will last longer than competitive machines.” The extra amperage gives you more power in a small machine and the direct DC current supplies the flat, smooth arc characteristics that welders desire, Schuk says. Welders also appreciate the higher duty cycle. The machine is ideal for a wide range of applications from hobby welding to light fabrication.

Twenty-four overlapping heat (voltage) steps allow accurate fine tuning. Flat and slope taps further assure accurate fine tuning of short arc parameters for reduced spatter. A solid state contactor control provides high reliability under repetitive short cycle welds.

PowerCut® Plasma Torch Helps Artist Reach New Level of Creativity

Lisa Pirkle knew she was an artist when she was five years old. But she Powercut Artist never guessed as a child that someday she would be creating art with a welder and a plasma torch. Lisa’s creations, displayed at her studio in Gainesville, Georgia, span a wide range of media and materials, including painting, sculptures, mosaics, pottery, wall sculptures, fountains, birdbaths and more. In 2002, a friend gave her a frog cut from metal with a plasma torch, and she was instantly intrigued with the possibilities. She contacted Jeff Winn at Smith Welding in Holly Springs, Georgia. After talking at length about what she wanted to do and what materials and thicknesses she would be working with, Jeff recommended the ESAB PowerCut 650 cutting package.

Welding a Sailfish

sailfish welding project

A deep sea fishing trip in Mexico inspired Dean Prestby to create this metal sculpture of a sailfish. He formed scraps of 14 gauge mild steel on an anvil to create the correct shapes, then Mig-welded them together with ESAB MIG-6 .035 solid wire. ESAB MIG-6 is an ER70S-6 MIG wire suited for welding over heavier amounts of dirt, rust or mill scale.

Regulator Blowout VideoESAB’s new Regulator Burn-out (RBO) Video demon-strates the value of the patented, built-in RBO Protection available only from ESAB.  Though oxygen regulator fires do not occur frequently in the welding industry, damage to property and personnel can be devastating when they do.  Check out this video to see live burn-outs, learn more about why they occur, and how the RBO Protection works.

ESAB Safety

Safety Tip

Safety AccesoriesPersonal safety is a key element in achieving the success and productivity you want. That’s why Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) should always be as integral a part of welding as your wire, shielding gas, torch and machine.  Next time you set up to weld, make sure you have each of the following:

  • Closed-toed work shoes (no open-toed shoes or sneakers)
  • A flame-retardant or 100% Cotton shirt or jacket
  • Proper eye protection
  • Welding gloves (to protect yourself from heat and sparks)
  • A well-ventilated work area

Safety Data Sheets Available Online

You can now search our Safety Data Sheet database for up-to-date SDS information and sign up to receive online notifications anytime changes are made to an SDS. Choose all of our Safety Data Sheets or select only the ones you need. We also do a yearly CD mailing containing the most up-to-date SDS information and safety manuals for “Precautions and Safe Practices for Arc Welding, Cutting and Gouging” and “Precautions and Safe Practices for Gas Welding, Cutting, and Heating.”
