Wave AC Power Some
solid state power sources are designed to provide alternating cycles of DCRP and
DCSP. Wave shape
and timing can be adjusted for particular welding needs. (See Fig. 1-7) Square
wave power sources can
provide stable AC outputs without the continuous use of high frequency. By adjusting
the balance or ratio
of reverse to straight polarity, penetration and cleaning can be controlled. This
is particularly useful for aluminum,
high quality pipe welding and welding nickel and copper based alloys.
