3 52 VOLTS 1200 Amperes 12.5 ipm WELDING VOLTAGE SQUARE GROOVE BUTT JOINT 1/2-in. Plate CORRECT LOW HIGH Result: Welds are too wide; reinforcement too low. Excessive amounts of flux were fused. Result: Excessive reinforcement in both welds. Bottom weld is “pear” shaped and too narrow for its depth; internal crack caused by center cooling last. Result: Both welds satisfactory in all respects. 45o SINGLE-VEE GROOVE BUTT JOINT 1-1/2-in.
