All-State® HS 6IP (formerly HS-7) Hardfacing Alloy for High Abrasion and Light Impact Carbon and Manganese Steels AC or DC Straight (Electrode –) or Reverse (Electrode +) All Position General Characteristics All-State HS 6IP is designed for all position field welding where carbon and manganese steels are to be repaired for abrasion resistance or light impact. Its iron powder low hydrogen coating promotes good bonds. Arc action is smooth in all positions and slag removal easy and complete. High deposition rates are attainable. Excellent for scraping wear. Typical Applications Pug Mill paddles, dragline and shovel buckets and teeth, asphalt mixer paddles, truck bodies, screens, tamping tools and anywhere light impact coupled with good abrasion resistance is desired. Qualities Hardness—Two layers on SAE 1020—55-59 Rockwell C. Deposits are non-machinable and smooth and slag removal is easy. Can be hot forged at red heat but will not respond to heat treatment. Procedures A weave technique is recommended. Limit deposit thickness to two passes or 1/4" (6.4mm) maximum. Diameters and Recommended Amperages 1/8" (3.2mm)—120-160     3/16" (4.8mm)—190-250 5/32" (4.0mm)—140-190    1/4" (6.4mm)—260-320 Identification All-State 6IP printed on electrode coating and package. Packaging All sizes in 3-lb. (1.36 kg) and 10-lb. (4.54 kg) containers.
