9 All-State Hard-Tuff 56® For heavy impact and abrasion on carbon and manganese steels. High deposition rate smooth arc. AC or DC Straight or Reverse Polarity General Characteristics All-State Hard-Tuff 56® electrode is designed to provide porosity free welds on all weldable grades of carbon steel. The weld deposit is also smooth, uniform and will give excellent service life to new and worn parts. Can be used with low voltage machines. Typical Applications Gyratory crusher parts, muller tires, conveyor bucket lips, roll crushers, impactors, hammermills and most parts subjected to heavy impact. Ideal for farm and shop applications. Qualities Hardness on SAE 1020 Steel—54-56 Rockwell C. Deposits are non-machinable and cannot be heat treated. Both stringer and weave beads may be employed. Check cracks may appear when new weld cools. The cracks will not change wear resistance, but will aid in prevention of distortion. Two weld layers recommended. Procedures On carbon steels, build up to approximate desired shape with All-State Roll Matrix®, on manganese steels, use with All-State Ni-Matrix®. Apply Hard Tuff 56® to a maximum of 1/4" (6.4mm) or two weld layers. NOTE: When welding manganese steels, do not overheat base metal. (600°F (316°C) Maximum).
